Air Jordan 18 “Sport Royal” OG Retro

The Air Jordan 18 ‘Sport Royal’ Retro will once again release during the early part of 2018.

Aside from the upcoming Air Jordan 18 retro release in 2018, the last time we saw this model release was in 2008 and apart of the Countdown Pack series. While some wouldn’t call this a true retro, one thing we can say is the ‘Wizards’ edition is the first time they will re-release since the original which took place in 2003.

This Air Jordan 18 comes dressed in a White, Sport Royal and Metallic Silver color combination. Worn by Michael Jordan with his stint with the Washington Wizards, they feature White leather on the base as well as the shroud. Following is Metallic Silver accents which hits the 23 and Jumpman branding. Finishing the look is Blue which runs across the midsole and liner.

Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 18 in White/Sport Royal for his final NBA game ever on April 16, 2003. He was a member of the Washington Wizards and was playing against the Philadelphia 76ers. Tate Kuerbis designed the shoe influenced by outstanding Italian dress shoes, and race cars. Equipped with a one piece upper, the Air Jordan 18 also comes with a carbon fiber plate, Zoom Air installed in the forefront and a hand-stitched outsole. The very same pair that MJ wore in his final game will receive the retro treatment in 2018 which comes covered in a white leather upper with Sport Royal detailing on the inner liner, midsole, and outsole.

The Air Jordan 18 “Sport Royal” was the last Air Jordan Retro shoe that Michael Jordan would wear in an NBA game. The 40-Year-Old Legend, Michael Jordan played in his final NBA game on April 16, 2003 in Philadelphia. Playing for the Washington Wizards and wearing the Air Jordan 18 (XVIII) in White/Metallic Silver-Sport Royal went to the bench with 4 minutes and 13 seconds remaining in the third quarter giving the fans one last wave expressing his gratitude towards them.

For 2018, Jordan Brand will be bringing back the Air Jordan 18, which was designed by long-time Nike designer Tate Kuerbis back in 2003. Its design was very unique and came with a clean laceless appearance, double stacked Nike Zoom Air, and carbon fiber Comfort Control Plate. Hopefully, the 2018 Retro will come with its iconic towel.
